NO SHORTCUTS 10-11-11

If we take a shortcut, we would not do it right. We need to show what we are thinking. Like in problem solving, you have to show all the steps. Michelle said that it is important to not take a shortcut always take your time and follow the steps.

I have found that when I try to take a shortcut driving somewhere-- sometimes I get lost and it takes me a long time to stop and ask how to get where I need to go. And sometimes I am even late because I didn't take time to look up the address or look at a map before I got in the car. Or sometimes I think I know how to do something-- like put a shelf together-- so I don't bother to take time to read the directions. One time I put it together all backwards, and made so many mistakes that I had to take it all apart, read the directions, and then start all over again. It would have been better for me to take my time, read the map or directions so that I was prepared, and then work hard to do it the right way the first time.

Has that happened to you?

I get in a hurry too and it doesn't always work out. It seems when I get in a hurry, that's when I mess up the most! You guys are doing some really smart thinking in your class!
